Mosquitoes Information and Demolition Ponds

HAMILTON COUNTY, OHIO – Mosquitoes that were recently trapped near Target in Blue Ash have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), a viral disease that can be passed from mosquitoes to humans. More information can can be found on the CDC website and on the Blue Ash webpage.  Also there is a very good Guide to Mosquito Control & Mosquito-borne Illnesses can be downloaded from the County Health department.

Note the Hamilton County Public Health staff will be conducting surveillance activities in the area where the mosquitoes were collected. They will be looking for areas of standing water, applying larvicide, making sure swimming pools are operating properly and advising residents on precautions they can take to avoid mosquito bites.

“We have ramped up our mosquito testing this summer, using two staff members to trap mosquitoes throughout the County for identification,” says Greg Kesterman, Assistant Health Commissioner. “West Nile was first identified in Ohio in 2001, so it’s not new to our area, but we like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to take precautions.”

ON 8/11/17 Blue Ash City Council passed an ordinance that puts a time limit regarding construction "ponds" sites. Some of which have been filling up with water and been a breeding ground for mosquitos.  Please feel free to call the city at 745-8500 for more information.

A major revision for Blue Ash Zoning laws has been passed City Council 7pm meeting. One concern that has not been addressd is panhandle lots in the existing neighborhoods like on tightly grided streets like the one on west side Summit Ave.

Another topic regards the Planned Unit Developement (PUD).  I would have rather seen City Council approval of the final plan versus leaving the final approval up to the Buidling and Zoning Board.

Thanks to Residents at the Duke Pipeline Ohio Power Siting Board Hearing

Thank you to those who spoke at the Ohio Power Siting Board Public hearing on June 15th at UC Blue Ash.  One positive developement came out of the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) Staff Report.  The Primary route shown below, was not recommended by the OPSB staff and talking to Duke's Representative at the hearing, they indicated they are not going to go against the OPSB staff's receommendation.
